Apply to become the host of OIRM’s Think & Link Series

OIRM is looking for a host for our Think & Link video series. This series will be hosted on Facebook Live and will feature researchers from within the OIRM community. Each episode will be approximately 20 minutes long and feature a conversation with an investigator discussing their research and answering questions from the audience. The series will highlight four researchers and have a tone that will appeal to the research community and the lay audience alike. This series will also be promoted by our health charity partners.

What’s in it for you?

As the host of the Think & Link video series you will have the opportunity to meet with top-ranking investigators. You will also have the opportunity to build your personal brand as a scientific communicator including one-on-one mentoring and training. This opportunity will include travel to different locations to meet the researchers across the OIRM network and share their stories.

Here’s what you need to apply;

  1. Video Interview:

Show us your interview skills by recording a one to two minute video interview with your supervisor or another OIRM investigator. This interview should introduce both parties and provide a brief glimpse of their research. Please submit this video via Dropbox or another large file sharing system.

  1. Your CV (max 2 pages), prior experience as a science communicator is not required.  
  2. A short paragraph explaining why you want to be the host. (max 250 words)
  3. A letter of support from your current supervisor.
  4. The applicant and the interviewee must complete and sign the OIRM Release Form.

Selection process:

The best applicant videos will be shared on OIRM’s social channels and we encourage you to promote your own video within your network. We will also show some of these videos at OIRM’s Annual Symposium on May 9. The series host will be selected from a combination of both online and in person voting.

This series will start in September 2018.
