Research Interests:
Extracellular vesicles, including microparticles (microvesicles), exosomes, and apoptotic bodies play an increasingly recognized role in intercellular communication. My research seeks to understand the role of extracellular vesicles in the pathogenesis of vascular and renal disease. We employ cellular and animal models of diabetes, hypertension, and acute kidney injury with two primary research goals.
1. To assess the regenerative potential of extracellular vesicle subtypes (i.e. exosomes vs microparticles) from various cellular origins.
2. To examine the potential of microparticles as markers and mediators of vascular and renal disease.
