Lindsay Fitzpatrick

Lindsay Fitzpatrick, Assistant Professor, Queens University

Profile and Department: Assistant Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science Chemical Engineering

Research Interests:

The central goal of the Fitzpatrick lab is to deepen our mechanistic understanding of host-material interactions, in order to inform biomaterial design and exploit molecular pathways to achieve desired therapeutic outcomes.  To accomplish this goal, the Fitzpatrick lab is currently (1) investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms through which synthetic biomaterials induce inflammatory and fibrotic host responses, (2) developing strategies to modulate inflammation, in the context of biomaterial host responses and chronic wounds, and (3) developing rapid-throughput models for screening novel biomaterial candidates using non-invasive imaging to assess biocompatibility and host responses, as well as in vivo material characterization.
